Chartered on August 29, 2015, the Metropolitan Washington, DC Chapter (NCBWDC) of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. has dedicated itself to empowering and uplifting Black women and girls in the District of Columbia for more than a decade.
Drawing from diverse leadership backgrounds in small business, non-profits, corporations, and government, each member actively upholds and embodies and models mission and vision of NCBW – to promote leadership development and gender equity for Black women and girls, while eliminating barriers to socioeconomic inequality.
What We Do
Our Mission
To advocate on behalf of Black women and girls to promote gender equality and leadership development in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment.
Our Vision
The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. envisions a world where socio-economic inequity is non-existent for black women and girls.
NCBW History
The National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW) began with a simple, powerful idea. In 1970, 24 Black women in New York City came together to create a brighter future for their communities. They started small, but their vision was immense.
Their efforts gained national attention, leading to a pivotal moment in 1981 when the organization officially went national. From a small group, it evolved into a powerful movement, now with thousands of members across 63 chapters in 24 states and the District of Columbia.
Today, the NCBW continues its critical mission: to champion gender equity and leadership development for women of color. Through their work in health, education, and economic empowerment, they are not just advocating for change—they are building a legacy of empowerment, one community at a time. Learn More →
