Sisternomics Empowerment Grant

Driven by the mission of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., the Sisternomics Empowerment Grant was created to invest in and promote Black women-owned businesses. With this grant initiative, NCBWDC specifically focuses on Black women-owned businesses in Washington, DC that are forging positive change across the District, specifically in Wards 7 and 8, and the surrounding metropolitan area.

The NCBWDC Sisternomics Empowerment Grant program is designed to:

  • Grow entrepreneurship in minority women 

  • Fund access to financial capital resources to grow and sustain black, women-owned businesses.

  • Support visibility and exposure throughout the Metropolitan DC community.

More Than Financial Support

Are You Eligible?

    • Black women-owned for-profit business 

    • Sales revenue under $500,000 annually 

    • Business must be legally established and operational for at least one year

    • Must be lien and judgment free 

    • Business must be current on taxes 

    • Current business certificate in good standing and/or business license 

    • Proof of ownership of the designated business 

    • Business must be in District of Columbia, preference for those businesses located and serving Ward 7 and 8ption text goes here

NCBWDC Sisternomics Empowerment Grant Application Checklist

The following is a checklist to assist you in submitting your complete application. Please be sure to upload your business plan presentation, Certificate of Incorporation, and vendor's license (if applicable) to the application below.  If you have any questions please email, microgrant@ncbwdc.org

Your completed application must include the following:

  1. Completed grant application (linked below)

  2. Business proposal submitted as a Powerpoint presentation (.ppt file format), which must include a slide for each of the following: business name, owner’s name, and links to web presence; business mission and/or vision statement; description of product(s) and/or service(s); narrative about what differentiates your business or product in the marketplace; description of your staffing structure; proposed budget (including the use of grant funds requested in next fiscal year or current calendar year); current sources of income and expenses

  3. Company’s Certification of incorporation (required) and vendor’s license (if applicable) 

  4. Signed disclosure and verification of information (on application)

*Applications must include all required information to be reviewed. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
